UC Students fight Prop. 209 with poetry

A group of UC Berkeley students has suspended the hunger strike it called 10 days ago as a way to get an hour of CNN air time to discuss affirmative action and the recent passage of Proposition 209. The fasting was causing some collective members to fall ill, so the protesters decided to take another tack [by] collaborating on a piece to be filmed and taped.

"Through our poetry we feel we can most clearly and honestly express what we're feeling and how that's affecting the whole country," Candelaria said.

"Our poetry is not at all foofy," Chandler added.
